Hormonal balance in the female body is a term that describes the complex interplay between a woman’s thyroid, ovaries, pituitary, hypothalamus and adrenal glands. Other factors that influence hormonal balance are her environment, diet, lifestyle and stress levels. A woman’s hormonal system is like an orchestra playing a complex symphony. If one or more of your hormones aren’t in balance, you are likely t0 start experiencing either physical and/or emotional symptoms. The hormones most likely to either be too high or too low are estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol and thyroid hormone.
Hormones which are either too high or too low can manifest in changes in mood such as irritability, depression, anxiety, tearfulness, lowered stress tolerance and/or in physical symptoms such as painful or heavy periods, PMS, breast tenderness, cyclic acne, weight gain or loss, hair loss, fatigue and more.
Hormonal imbalance can also manifest as diagnosable conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, fibroids, hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue and others. Common times for hormone imbalances to show up are puberty, conception, pregnancy and menopause.
Having balanced hormones is a very important aspect of our physical and mental health.
At The WellBeing Centre we aim to identify the root cause of the hormone imbalance. We use a range of diagnostic tools including in-depth health evaluation, blood tests and functional tests to evaluate for imbalances.
The results help to inform a natural medicine plan to provide relief of symptoms and to a guide to the dietary and lifestyle factors that will keep you feeling balanced in the long term.
